Meet Our Team

Daniel is an awarded executive and highly respected P&C underwriter among his Canadian and global peers.  Prior to joining TruStar, he was Vice President of Property and Casualty at an international reinsurer, where he was responsible for executing multi-line strategy for its Canadian general insurance operations.  He previously held various management positions at a national Managing General Agent and has worked directly in the Lloyd’s market placing high-hazard policies with Canadian coverholders.  Daniel’s experience and market wisdom has helped him forge trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and establish himself as an effective industry leader.  He favours an open management style that promotes feedback, collaboration, and meaningful team engagement. 

Beyond the office, Daniel is a travel enthusiast who continues to explore the world and the beauty of its cultures and cuisines. 

Sarah is an experienced professional liability leader and business developer.  She began her career at a global brokerage, where she designed and marketed specialized insurance programs for financial agents, and quickly became a subject matter expert in the Canadian market.  Prior to joining TruStar, Sarah held various underwriting and management positions at a large insurer, structuring large E&O programs.  She is an active member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and has been a key contributor to its Ontario Chapter.  Sarah holds an Honours Degree in Political Science from York University, and is a Chartered Insurance Professional and Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker. 

Sarah is also especially interested in personal coaching and applies this passion as the lead of TruStar’s Engagement and Culture Programs.  She is a proud mother to Charlotte and Hunter, wife to Toby, and enjoys spending her downtime at the family cottage in Muskoka or the ski slopes of Collingwood. 

Ryan is an operations executive and financial lines expert.  He is responsible for leading TruStar’s strategic agenda and managing the company’s operational effectiveness.  Ryan previously held national underwriting roles at a global insurer, where he specialized in management liability for TSX and NYSE listed corporations and was instrumental in the growth and reputation of its financial lines practice.  Ryan is a Committee Member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University and several certificates in enterprise risk management. 

Ryan is also an experienced competitive golfer and active member of the Community.  He sits on the Young Leaders Board of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and is Co-Chair of its Innovation Committee, volunteers as an Advisor to the Queen’s Insurance Association, and provides regular career counselling to new graduates.
